Roland Spiller is a British Army Officer attending the Joint Advanced Warfighting School. Having served alongside US forces on operations and on exercises, he is broadening his understanding of US operational planning. His thesis examines how World War I provides lessons on how a well trained and equipped army can adapt to wars of unexpected character, and intensity.
