Bio Note:
Liberian native and now a US citizen, Jacien grew up in Liberia, Italy, Switzerland, France and the United States. He is fluent in French and familiar with Italian and German. Jacien is also a United States Marine Corps veteran, receiving a honorable discharge upon the completion of his active service. He is a graduate of the Ohio State University where he studied under the renowned Military Historian, Professor John F. Gilmartin (Lt.Col. USAF ret.). Jacien earned his Master's degree at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London in Historical Research Methods with a specialization in Africa's Military History. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at SOAS in History where he is writing a comparative historical analysis of the construction of our knowledge of the Poro Society in Liberia and Sierra Leone in the 19th century.
